KOFI Crepes and Coffee in San Ramon, Costa Rica, is not just a restaurant, it is an idyllic, air-conditioned café specializing in crepes, coffee, and a variety of delectable refreshments. Owner/chef Maiko (pronounced My-Koh), not only has a knack for artistic and unique creations which beguile the discerning palate, he is also gracious, energetic, and attentive to his customers and staff.

Emblazoned above KOFI’S stylish hand-drawn menu board with its trademark blue “F”, abides their indelible catchphrase, “ANYTIME IS KOFI TIME!”. Whether lunch or dinner, just hanging out, or taking a well-deserved break … anytime truly is KOFI time!

Open since August 2016, KOFI’s robust popularity springs from a growing wordof-mouth campaign by those who have already discovered this refreshing, tucked away bistro. In his self-deprecating manner, Maiko explains,

“After settling in Costa Rica, I really wanted to establish something unique and affordable here in San Ramon.”

With a menu where nearly every item costs less than 3000 colones, it appears he is succeeding.
From the customized wood pallet service counter to the quaint coffee cup clock, eclectic playlists, and blazing 10Mb internet … KOFI Crepes and Coffee comfortably seats 20 among its five tables while another 4 can leisurely unwind on the “KOFI couch” or easy chairs. Not one for complacency, Maiko strives to perfect the recipes and techniques he has gleaned from his native Honduras and from his travels to Spain, Argentina, and the United States. He leads by example, which is evident by the camaraderie, and both he and his waitstaff place a premium on hospitality and quality customer service.

The applicable word in Spanish is creperia and the French-style crepe innovations meticulously prepared at KOFI are first-rate. You also have a choice between meal crepes (Saladas) and dessert crepes (Dulces). Crowd favorites on the meal side include the Pollo Emperador, which is a wonderful blend of grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, and choice of sauce (chipotle, ranch, or honey mustard), or attempt the bolder selection affectionately called Monster, which is loaded with chicken, pork, ham, lettuce, tomato, mozzarella, and choice of sauce.

In the dessert category, the Nutella Fresa (strawberry) is a hit with the younger clientele, but it’s hard to top the Tropical’s perfect sweet and sour balance of strawberry, peach, kiwi, banana, chocolate, condensed milk, and caramel. In addition to KOFI’s signature crepes, Maiko offers chicken, pork, or ham sandwiches and wraps, waffles, and salads, and don’t forget the “off menu” items like their gourmet crushed ice té frío (ice tea), tropical lemonades (regular, pink, and mint), the occasional cookies, and the exquisite homemade lemon pie.

Cold or hot, the menu is not complete without KOFI’s delectable drinks. Go with a traditional caliente selection–Latte, Cappuccino, Americano, and Mocha, or take a ride on the on frio side with the Nevado or Café Oreo. Both are sensational vanilla ice cream refreshments blended with the international award winning Tarrazú coffee.

If milkshakes are your thing, KOFI offers five tempting choices–vanilla, strawberry, banana, chocolate, and Oreo cookie. Rather have a delicious smoothie? Try them all … lemonade, pineapple, strawberry, or mint. KOFI Crepes and Coffee is the perfect destination to establish a new routine for coffee, crepes, and delicious goodies. Maiko and his staff truly embody Pura Vida and after you visit you will feel like family.

Bon apetit!
